Have you heard of slush piles? This is where publishers dump unsolicited manuscripts (anything from 50-500 a month). The majority are never read – book publishing is driven by market forces, so most publishers deal with writers they know, or writers recommended by agents they know. In many ways it’s like a property ladder – how do you get on it in the first place?

At Tartan Moon we believe there are far more talented writers out there than there are publishing outlets. So we decided to create our own platform for writers. Have you got a wonderful story but are disillusioned by rejection slips? Perhaps you’ve been baffled about which publisher to post your manuscript to, or even how to prepare it (for its short journey to slush city)?

Our goal is to have a rapid turnover of quality work submitted by email, then made available to a world-wide audience in Portable Document Format (PDF). We work closely with our writers in promoting titles, encouraging the use of social networking sites as opposed to the previous world of bookshop signings.

We also offer our writers a generous commission rate for every copy sold. The rest, as they say, is up to you.
